Historical Yachts

Full Provenance File

For owners, buyers, family offices, advisors and institutions.

The extended documentary file: an expanded ownership chronology and registry trail, the yard and design context behind the vessel, the rebuilds that changed her, and a structured appendix showing where each statement comes from.

What the work covers

The full file is built for vessels whose history is long, interrupted or contested: several owners, several names, a rebuild that changed the hull, a registry trail crossing flags and decades. It reconstructs that sequence from the sources themselves rather than from repeated secondary accounts.

Yard records, registry entries, official documents, contemporary press and photographic collections are consulted directly where access allows. Historic images are referenced, and reproduced where rights permit.

Every statement is tied to a named source in a structured appendix, and the questions that remain open are listed as questions. Ownership information that is not publicly documented is not guessed at.

Scope examples

Deliverable

A detailed PDF report containing the expanded ownership chronology, previous names and registry trail, refit and rebuild history, builder and designer context, significant documented events with published references, historic photograph and archive references, unresolved provenance questions, and a structured source appendix.

How findings are classified

Documented fact
Supported by a primary or archival source that is named and locatable.
Reported claim
Published or widely repeated, but without a primary source behind it.
Conflicting source
Two or more records disagree; both readings are given with their origin.
Unverified detail
Plausible but unsupported at the time of writing, and marked as such.
Source citation
Every statement carries its reference, including the archive or collection.
